The Lead Wolf is the leader of the pack, and the wolf whom the player takes the role of. They cannot die by fatal illness or losing all HP.

Lead Wolf Name[]

Lead wolf names do not have to be unique and can be changed any time, but are restricted to only 25 characters.

Titles[]

Lead wolves (and featured wolves) can be given titles in front of their names in a player's den. These titles have no effect on gameplay and are purely visual. These titles can be selected at the bottom of one's den page. The current available titles are as listed:

Lead Wolf Titles Featured Wolf Titles
Pack Leader Featured Wolf
Lead Wolf Mate
King King
Queen Queen
Alpha Beta
Lead For Sale
Leader For Stud
Friend
Companion

Featured Wolves[]

Players can select a featured wolf to accompany their Lead Wolves around the game. Featured wolves will have a special section next to the lead wolf on a player's den page, and can also be displayed on the left sidebar in the corner of the lead wolf's image. This setting can be turned off on the player's profile page.

Featured wolves provide no gameplay differences and they will function exactly like any normal pack member. Wolves of any age can be made into featured wolves. Featured wolves can have their titles changed at the bottom of the den page, as mentioned above.

Experience, Stats, and Leveling Up[]

Lead wolves can gain experience by battling and completing quests. After their experience bar is completely full, then can level up. Leveling up will increase their maximum HP by and give them an assortment of stats equal to double their level. For example, a wolf that has leveled up to Level 10 will gain 20 stats. The specific stats that are gained are completely random.

Lead wolf stats affect the wolf's capability in battle. Higher-stat wolves are generally more successful in battle, as their high stats can increase their dice rolls.

At level 10, players can start encountering special befriend-able wolves while exploring. More information about this is available on the Befriending Wolves page.

Retiring[]

If a player would no longer like to keep their current lead wolf, they can choose to retire them. Retiring a lead wolf early will cost GC, and the amount one has to pay changes depending on how old the lead wolf is. Unlike pack wolves, lead wolves cannot be retired for free once they surpass 7 years and 6 months of age.

Retiring one's lead wolf will kill them, sending them to the pack dynasty where they can be stored. After this, the player will be prompted to select a new leader. They can chose to either create a new leader from scratch or use one of their current pack members as an heir. Pups can be chosen as pack leaders and will be aged up to 1 year old if they are selected. There is no mechanic to age down wolves who might be older than one would like.

When selecting a new lead wolf, there is no option to retain the looks of one's previous lead wolf. There are also no options to keep stats or mutations.
